Stainless martensitic steels consist, by weight, of Cr 11-16% Mn up to 8% # 3-12% Ni up to 7%# 3-12% C up to 0À1% Mo up to 3À5% B 0À001-6À01% Si, Nb and/or V up to 0À5% each N up to 0À035% Fe and impurities-balance. The steels may be hardened from temperatures above 770‹C. and tempered at 500-700‹ C. Uses. Plate e. g. made up into pressure vessels, turbine casings, transport containers and storage tanks; bar, tube, ribbon, wire and castings.
