Abstract

The panels comprise an artistic pattern in preserved plants and natural colourants sandwiched between a flexible support sheet and a protective film. Pref. the flexible substrate is a translucent ivory 'parchment' or white 'serge' paper or a sheet of satin or silk finish "Polyphane". Pref. the colourants are based on dried marine dyes which have been water washed and then treated with colouring reagents known as 'neutral' red or 'light' green and picric acid, this initial treatment pref. being carried out between satd. layers of absorbent paper or mats or sheets of polyamide materials. Pref. the protective film is a self adhesive translucent film obtained by coating or spraying with suitable plastics materials. Esp. for mfr. of panels for decorative lighting units, such as sky lights.
