Abstract

Pressing moulds with a structural surface for the prodn. of the structured external surfaces on curable sheets of synthetic resins, or support sheets impregnated with synthetic resin, or chipboard panels covered with a support sheet impregnated with a synthetic resin (e.g. phenolic or melamine) are produced by covering several resin-impregnated sheets, such as paper or fabric sheets, on one or both faces, with a metal foil which is able to be chromium plated, such as copper foil, and is covered with an adhesive layer, subjecting this assembly, with a die having the desired surface structure, to a shaping pressure in a heated press, and chromium plating the formed structured surface. Enables the pressing moulds to be manufactured more easily, cheaply and economically. The use of non-reusable separation sheets is avoided.
