Abstract

The speed of cooling is controlled by the use of coolers consisting of a powder which is mouldable and has a high thermal conductivity such as pure graphite. The graphite is ground and then sieved until its granulometry is the same as that of foundry sand. It is then bound with sodium silicate followed by hardening with CO2 or it may be bound with a hardenable resin.
