Abstract

Members are formed by coating steel pipes with refractory material, pref. 72% wt. quartz sand, 20% wt. refractory clay, 80% wt. water glass and water so density of material is 1.4-1.6 g/cm3., inserting them in moulds, and pouring in molten iron temp., 1180-1250 degrees C, so that cooled member has channels. Members have long life due to non-carbonisation of steel pipes by molten iron.
