Abstract

The short circuit action generated by the yarn breakage monitor raises the temp. of a resistance at the sliver feed which triggers a lever. The lever action withdraws the shaft with an aperture through which the sliver passes, drawing it against the wall of the unit effectively choking the sliver passage. The purpose is to give a simple and positive sliver brake action to prevent sliver passing into the open-end spinner to cause friction combustion and/or component strain.
