Abstract

Apparatus for testing grapes in a wine vat, has a first perpendicular cylinder, a first controllably movable piston within the cylinder capable of being raised, a drawing off tube, open at the bottom, connected for movement to the first piston and emerging through an opening in the base of the first cylinder; a second piston, movable relative to the tube, introduced impermeably into the drawing-off tube and connected to a piston rod passing through the first piston; a second cylinder, placed above the first cylinder and axially aligned with the latter, with a similarly controllably movable third piston which is also capable of being raised and joined to the piston rod and a movable sidebar, placed in the base of the first cylinder inclined to the axis of the drawing-off tube to close the passage opening.
