Abstract

Moving dielectric surface, positioned on belt, is electrostatically charged, and charged retained by electric field induced by electrode near dielectric but removed from gas stream flowing over belt. Particles entrained in gas are charged by corona discharge, and component opposing gas flow generates turbulence. Particles move to belt surface and are retained, being removed by brushes at cleaning station remote from gas stream. System is efficient for wide range of particle sizes.
