Storage-stable polyamide solns. derived from benzophenone diamides (I) where n = 1 or 2, and R is H, OH, OR', COOH or COOR', and R' is 1 - 12C alkyl; and tetracarboxylic acid anhydrides (II) or (III) where n is gero or 1, and X is CO, O, S, or -(CH3)C(CH3)- or SO2 in polar solvent. Prods. have no tendency to gelling even when stored for extended periods at temps. up to 100 degrees C. Used in mfre. of fibres, lacquers.
