Abstract

In the 2 stage process at 750 degrees C - 850 degrees C and 1200 degrees - 1280 degrees C a mixture of NaCl and Na2SO4 are roasted with ore or the concentrate. Na2SO4 can be replaced by Iron or Ammonium-sulphate and the latter can be regained by washing the flue gases, resulting in ammoniumchloride which can be used later to ppte. V from soln. In the 3 stage process at 500 degrees - 700 degrees C, 750 degrees - 850 degrees C and 1200 degrees - 1280 degrees C Iron and Ammonium sulphate are used or a sulphide or sulphate e.g. Iron pyrite or elementary sulphur. At 450 degrees C the equilibrium conditions are such that a maximal amount of trioxide results the Vanadiumpentoxide and Ferric oxide act as catalytic accelerators. In every process the V ore or concentrate are first fine-crushed and ground and salt and concentrate or V ore are carefully mixed. Roasting is under oxidising condns.
