Abstract

The wooden platter is pref. dried and then immersed in a heated bath of paraffin(ic cpd.) in a sealed treatment chamber. The chamber is then evacuated to a move air trapped between the wood fibres, and then pressurized to force the paraffin(ic cpd.) into the wood and impregnate it. The wooden platters are for use in butchery for cutting meat, and the impregnation reduces decomposition of the wood.
