Abstract

A tuyere for casting metal under pressure comprises a cylindrical core element with an axial bore, an electrical resistance heating element supported in intimate contact with the outer surface of the core and a sleeve element whose inner wall is in face to face contact with the external surface of the core and encoses the heater. Uniform heating of the tuyere is achieved and damage caused by local temp. irregularities is reduced.
