Abstract
The condenser is of rolled tubular form and comprises sheet metal electrodes sepd. by a layer of dielectric consisting of a film of biaxially oriented polypropylene and paper loaded with alumina, both being impregnated with an aromatic halogen cpd. so that the alumina collects the impurities present or appearing. Previously alumina has been added to the plastic film. The present assembly avoids making a special plastic film. The condenser may be contained in a terminal box whose terminals are insulated by paper loaded with alumina and/or atactic polypropylene. Atactic polypropylene has a limited solubility in the halogen cpd., pref. trichlorodiphenyl, and slows up any attack on the biaxially oriented film dielectric.
