807,480. Capacitors. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Aug. 8, 1957 [Sept. 20, 1956], No. 28724/56. Class 37. A silvered mica capacitor has its edges sealed with a strip of low-loss material before it is encapsulated in a material of relatively high-loss factor. Fig. 3 shows how the strip of material 17, which may be of polyethylene and have an adhesive on one side, is wound round the capacitor to prevent the encapsulating material from penetrating between the mica sheets 10 and thereby altering the capacitance and raising the loss factor.
