Abstract
Method of fretting cylinders using a fretting coefft. f = do/(do - di) where do is the OD of the body and di is the ID of the body when cold before fretting, chosen such that before fretting the value of f is between f1 = R / 60000 and f2 = R / 70000 where R is the rupture strength and may be 80-140 kg/mm2. Esp. alloy comprises 0.15-0.25% C, 0.40-0.80% Mn, 0.30-0.50% Si, 0.8-1.5% Cr, 0.8-1.2% Mo, 0.20-0.30% V.
