Abstract

1428300 Propellors ERIKSBERGS MEK VERKSTADS AB 24 July 1974 32642/74 Heading B7V [Also in Division F2] A propellor hub 17 is mounted on a cylindrical shaft 10 by means of a tapered sleeve 14 which is compressed inwardly by hydraulic pressure applied at 19 while the hub is moved up the taper by hydraulic nut 21. The hub can be released by reapplying hydraulic pressure to brake the tapered connection between the hub and the sleeve. The invention provides that the shaft is stepped to reduce the variation in thickness of the sleeve 14 along its taper. This allows the sleeve to be compressed, and therefor for the sleeve to grip the shaft relatively uniformly along its length.
