Abstract

The liq. vinasse, obtd. after the distn. of the alcohol from wine or its by-prods, such as march or lees, is hot charged with organic matter and contains acids which are partly in the form of salts. Calcium tartrate is obtd. by neutralisation of the acids under precise concn. and temp. conditions. The vinasse, is fed at a constant rate into a reactor, fitted with a stirrer, at the same time neutralisation is effected with CaCO3 or pref. slaked lime, by means of an electronic regulator, a min. loss by solubility and a max. degree of purity in the crystals is thus obtd. The liq. is sent to a clarifier for sepg. the tartrate. The treatment is effected at low cost with simple appts. and the minimum amt. of power; at the same time the B.O.
