Abstract
Materials which are fragile at cryogenic temps, esp. rubber etc. are first cooled by vapor of inert cryogenic liquid then further cooled by liquid to a temp. at which material is friable, followed by crushing in presence of liquefied gas. Vapour used in first stage is that generated from liquid in second stage and crusher. Efficient use is made of vapour formed and crushing zone is maintained at low temp, aiding crushing.
