Abstract

Synthetic expanded plastics material is simultaneously shaped and textured in a mould cavity lined where appropriate with a flexible but not compressible material (rubber) featuring the desired surface grain pattern, etc. Pref. the bulk of the resin is h.f. heated to minimise the actual temp. of the textured cavity walls. Process produces simulated leather grain on the side of a welt or sole, and is more efficient than use of pre-textured sheet.
