Abstract

Equipment for dispensing lay-flat tubular thermoplastic film with a reverse fold running along each edge, spreading the edge fold for pick-up by four series of moving clamps which carry the film past heat-sealing/cutting jaws providing periodic transverse welds, and then spreading the tube open until a further system of moving clamps draw the opened film down around an item to be enclosed. Esp. for spreading and lowering a shrink wrap thermoplastic film over a collection of balanced or delicate objects mounted on a supporting pallet, without disturbing them prior to contraction of thewrapper. More reproducible and quicker than manual manipulation.
