Abstract

Manufacture of a filament fleece pref. by soln. or melt spinning of a high polymer by (a) a series of adjacent rows of spun warp yarns are collected after leaving the spinneret to a yarn warp by means of guides which also charge up the yarns electrically by friction, (b) the yarn warp is picked up by a suction stream which attains its maximum flow velocity on a draw channel sized in accordance with the number of yarns, so that the acceleration required for the stepwise stretching of the filament is achieved, and (c) all the yarns in the yarn warp are stretched uniformly before they are deposited on a moving surface permitting free passage through it of a flowing medium to give a filament fleece with a structure and uniformity dependent on the electrostatic charge on the individual filaments and the flow conditions in the draw medium. More esp. the spun filaments are hot- and cold-drawn.
