Abstract

Anchorage bolts are made of a thermosetting resin reinforced with thermoplastic fibres. The bolt body may be solid or hollow, and the fibres may be straight or twisted. Pref. bolts are of polyester filled with glass fibres or fibres of polyethylene, polypropylene or polyester resin. For superior chemical and/or mechanical props. the bolt, may be of epoxy or phenolic resins. Esp. for securing masonry panels for cladding or decorating buildings etc. with bolts anchored in (quick-setting) resin cement packets. Compared with conventional (mild steel) bolts, the fibre-reinforced thermoset bolts are stronger, lighter, sufficiently elastic to be driven through slightly undersize holes, and do not corrode.
