Abstract

n-Olefin are separated from their mixtures with n-paraffins, which a boiling point in the kerosine boiling range by (a) passing the mixture over a zeolitic mol. sieve bed having pore sizes 6 angstrom, in order to selectively adsorb the olefins from the feed current, thereby extracting from the bed treatment process n-paraffins and (ii) obtaining the olefins from the sieve, by a second stage desorption process using a mononuclear aromatic hydrocarbon. Process is pref. effected an the gas phase. Process can be used to remove olefins when present in low concentration, and loss of capacity of the mol. sieve is considerably reduced.
