Abstract
Apparatus for dissipating a thermal flux, for elements subjected to intense heating in a high flux magnetic field, e.g. a target in a particle accelerator, comprising a sealed circuit in the form of a coil with at least one turn, bonded thermally to the element to be cooled, and transversed by a fluid electrically conducting heat transfer medium with the improvement whereby each turn has a flattened zone formed by two parallel planes perpendicular to the magnetic field while the other two connecting faces are bonded to electrodes through which a current is passed in a direction such that the resultant electro-magnetic force drives the electrically conducting heat transfer fluid through interior of the coil.
