Abstract

The mixture is supplied sequentially from reaction chambers each of which has a controlled burner system. In a first operation, these burn gas and air supplied to the chamber in non-stoichiometric proportions to give a soot-gas supply for the furnace. In a second operation, small amounts of gas in excess of air are burnt to obtain complete combustion in the chamber and maintain its temp. while mixture is fed to the furnace from another chamber.
