Abstract

A gaseous mixture of olefin (esp. ethylene) and oxygen in the mol. ratio of at least 2:1 (pref. 3-5:1) is passed over the catalyst (pref. V2O5 and Pd). The product is esp. acetic acid for further reaction with ethylene to give vinyl acetate using a known catalyst.
