Abstract
A joint consists of a fibrous support layer impregnated with fluorinated hydrocarbon polymers and then pyrolysed at an elevated temperature. The fibrous support layer may be of paper, asbestos, glass or other suitable material, and may be impregnated with fluorinated hydrocarbon polymers and polymerised at a high temperature in association with other known jointing materials. The joint has a lower minimum thickness, density and compressibility and higher chemical resistance than known jointing materials.
