Abstract

Vapourisation of metal from a workpiece during the primary stages of spark discharge across the gap is avoided by striking the spark discharge across electrode, by applying a voltage and a current, increasing the intensity of the current applied to the gap, fusing a volume of metal compatible with a predetermined surface finish and rate of erosion and stopping conduction of current after a predetermined period of time.
