Abstract

and Mo- contg. reducing catalyst is prepd. by eluting Al from a Ni- Mo- Al alloy contg. 30-55% Ni and 1-10% Mo, the balance being Al and unavoidable impurities, by treating with an aqs. soln. of an alkali metal hydroxide. After the Al has been eluted with the aqs. soln. of the alkali metal hydroxide, the metallic components are pref., converted into a lower oxide by treating with air opt. mxed with an inert gas, or an oxidising chemical agent. The catalyst has a high durable activity, and is very resistant to poisoning by sulphur.
