Abstract

Process for burning residual liquors from the chemical treatment of paper pastes, or soln. contg combustible organic substances, from the same source, in combination with alkalis, in which the substances are atomised in an oven with a longitudinal axis, the liquors being evaporated to a suitable concn. and continually burned. The alkali in the liquor is converted to a molten mass of Na2CO3 which is removed from the oven. The liquor is atomised to a finely divided state and enters the oven from a central point in the upper part of the oven. A supply of air to the oven allows the organic substances to be reduced and removed and CO2 and H2O. Apparatus is also described and claimed.
