Abstract
Glass fibre reinforced plastics tubes are produced by forming longitudinal profiled elements of a desired length whose section is a segment of a circle, assembling the different elements to form a tube in which the elements are joined by their lengthwise edges immediately after their formation or curing by polymerisation, and winding one or more layers of rovings in the form of a close helical winding on the tube. Glass fibre reinforced tubes of diameter >60 cm can be easily produced. The tubes may have a very high percentage of glass fibres so that their resistance to buckling is very high.
