Abstract

1480219 Reinforced plastics tubes BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd 1 Oct 1974 [21 Nov 1973] 54077/73 Addition to 1367880 Heading F2P [Also in Division B5] An extruded tube of thermoplastics, thermosetting, or rubber material, comprises inner and outer layers of the same or different materials each containing discrete staple fibres which have been oriented during extrusion through a tube die along helical paths which, in each layer, are of a band opposite to that in the other layer. The preferred orientation is a helix angle of 54 degrees 44 minutes and the fibres are preferably of a length of at least 400 times their diameter. The tube may additionally be provided with an interior and/or exterior barrier layer of extruded material.
