Abstract

A plastic sheath for a core is produced by slipping-over a tubular fibrous braid (2) and after stretching it to cause it to adhere fully to the core surface, impregnating the braid with a liquid, curable plastic resin, and curing the resinous layer. Economising the manufacture of armoured elongated articles competing in price and chemical and mechanical properties with wooden ones, like skis, spars, rails or masts, resp. hollow metal etc. profiles, the latter to be used as pipes for steam or chemicals.
