Abstract

Unit consists of a shell of cylindrical or polyhedral shape, inside which is mounted a pair of coaxial cylindrical tubes. The lower end of the inner one is widened to form a bell mouth, and liquid refrigerant, pref. liq. CO2, is injected upwardly in this area. Tube to be treated is fed continuously through unit along centre line, between inlet and outlet formed in flanges of shell. Temp. sensor is mounted between shell and outer tube. Used for cooling or "tempering" of elastomeric or polymeric tubes prior to coating with plastic or wire.
