Abstract

Extraction of juices from residues is assisted by raising the temperature of the latter by means of a current of hot, dry air. The residue coming from the usual presses is introduced into a conduit through a hopper. the conduit has openings for the introduction of the hot air and the residue is driven from one end of the conduit to the other by a rotating shaft carrying blades arranged as an Archimedean screw with a thread showing continuity breaks. The heated residue is discharged to an open conveyor belt on which it is treated with solvents for the extraction of a complement of juices.
