Abstract

The hydride is chosen from:- (A) R3 X- H Where X s Si or Sh (B) R3 X- X(R)2-H Where X is B or Si (C) R2 X - H Where X is B (D) R3 X - BH3 Where X is N or P Where X is N- or P R and R' are alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralalkyl or aryl radicals. Examples are di-and tri-phenyl silane, P,P' P"-hexamylcyclo borophane, triethylamine borane, laurylamine borane. Concentration of hydride is 0.01-5.0 wt.% of polyamide. The stabiliser prevents colour changes in polyamide threads for textiles caused by thermal degradation and gives better knitting properties than polyamides stabilised with phosphorus oxacids. The hydrides are normally used with an o- or p-t-al-kyl substituted phenol. (1,1,3-tris- 2'-methyl 4'-hydroxy 5'-t-butyl phenyl butane).
