Abstract

Process to improve the characteristics of textile fibers, and in particular to permanently confer better textile characteristics to natural, artificial and synthetic fibers that have in their molecule free oxidrlic or amine groups or mobile hydrogen atoms, which groups or atoms are capable to react with the halogen atoms of a compound containing in its molecule at least one symmetric triazine ring, in which the halogen atoms are present as side substituents so as to form a stable covalent bond between the fiber and the compound, characterized in that the fiber is treated for a time ranging between 1 and 3 hours, at a temperature of 40º C ÷ 100º C, with an aqueous bath containing 0.1 ÷ 3 g/l of a compound of the general formula: ** (See formula) ** in which R is an aliphatic radical, saturated or unsaturated, constituted by a chain of 14 ÷ 30 carbon atoms, X a halogen atom, Ar an aromatic radical, chosen from the group of benzene, naphthalene, diphenyl and stilbene, and n an integer between 1 and 4.
