Gaseous concentrations ar detected. Appts. comprises a metal box a 1st inlect duct for a carrier gas and the substances; a collector electrode; a 2nd inlet for H2/air mixture; an outlet duct for burnt gas; and a catalyst for ignition of the substances. The outlet is at a distance from the 2nd inlet. Pref. the catalyst is a metallic oxide, Pt, Pt black, or Ni. The end of the 1st duct is made of an electrical insulator. The catalyst can be observed through a window.
