Abstract

Anode of lead - silver alloy is used, pref. in a two compartment cell. Cathode electrolyte is nitrile, separated by membrane from aqueous sulphuric acid in anode area. Released hydrogen cyanide is continuously removed from anode area by treatment with air. HCN content is pref. below 200 mg/l.
