Abstract
Protective coatings, are applied to metal surfaces contng. aluminium, zinc or iron - A composition is applied of a phosphate or oxalate converter forming an almost dry uniform coating, a part of which is water soluble. A fixing compound is applied and the water soluble part reacts with the converter coating to form insoluble products in the water and a dry compound coating on the metallic surface. To the latter, a stabilising or passivating compound is applied contng. hexavalent chromium.
