Abstract

Element for carding treatment of fibres on a carding machine cylinder. Consisting of at least one carding lag stave, fitted stationary over and covering part of the periphery of the cylinder. The rigid metal carding spikes protruding slightly outside the bottom of the carding lag stave, and working in conjunction with the carding spikes of the cylinder. The carding lag stave being adjustable in relation to the cylinder carding spikes. The carding spikes of the carding lag stave protrude through a smooth surface. The entire carding area of the carding lag stave is provided with spikes. The carding lag staves are supported by the carding machine frame. Driven roller is fitted before the carding lag staves breaking up the fibres and promoting the formation of an even layer on the cylinder. Each carding lag stave having an inverted T shaped cross section, and having a base material at the bottom so that the spikes protrude only slightly. The cylinder turns at a linear speed of approx. 600 to 1950 meter per minute. Carding cylinder fibres are removed in a thin film. Impurities in this film are flattened between rollers, and this cared film is stretched before entering the calender bowl roller.
