Abstract

A roller provided with an axially extending peripheral deferal deformation, e.g. a flat is associated with a covered stripper of a jute or like carding machine so that as the roller rotates the gap between the stripper cover and roller widens periodically to clear material that might otherwise form a blockage in the region of the gap. With a roller having a diameter of 6.4 inches, the maximum depth of the flat may be .06 inch. For larger rollers, one flat may be provided for every six inches of diameter of the roller.
