Abstract

Preparation of antiviral preparations in which the active ingredients are elanolic acid or one of its derivatives such as elanolide, alkali salts of elanolic acid, Mg, Fe, or Zn salts, lower alkylacetals of elanolic acid (in which the alkyl group has 1-6 C), lower alkylacetal ester of elanolic acid (in which the alkyl group contains 1-6 C) or alkyl esters of elanolic acid (1-6 C). The preparations are used for their antiviral activity. A suitable salt or ester or free elanolic acid is made up in tablet form or as a solution and buffered to a pH of between 7.0 and 8.5. The solution form of the agent is used as an aerosol spray with a suitable propellant.
