Abstract

Non-lubricated seal for sliding surfaces in high-pressure, high-speed compressors and expanders is of polyamide, PTFE or polyformaldehyde resin to which are added mineral or organic fillers, such as metal, glass graphite or MoS2. The seal has an armature composed of parallel layers which are perpendicular to the direction of relative motion and made of thin bronze mineral or organic fabric, of low hardness relative to the sliding element it contacts.
