Abstract

The cable passes through a pair of spaced relatively movable orifices so that by moving one orifice towards the other and selectively gripping the cable in the orifices, the cable is advanced to extend from the second orifice. A rotating cutter, is linearly movable across the mouth of the second orifice to cut off the length of cable extending from it. The machine is compact, and can operate at high speeds. The cable advancing mechanism doesn't displace the filaments.
