Description
The tiles, generally laid from the bottom up on a roof, are hung on the battens by a heel arranged at their upper part. This attachment device is not perfect, because it happens that under the action of the wind, the tiles come loose and fly away at the risk of injuring passers-by; moreover, this device is not valid for plastic tiles which, being much lighter, would risk flying off more easily.
The present invention overcomes these drawbacks. To this end, it relates to a device for attaching the tiles to the roof battens, consisting of a U-shaped rod with unequal branches, the large branch having the possibility of engaging in an orifice provided on the tile, and this before its installation, and the small branch serving to retain 'the tile provided with this device on the batten, means being provided to prevent any separation of the device and the tile when they are assembled.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the U-shaped rod is made of steel, and the shouldered end of its large branch carries a thread which, when it has passed through the corresponding hole in the tile, receives a nut.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the U-shaped rod is made of plastic and the shouldered end of its large rod carries an upwardly oriented cone, and a groove between the cone and the shoulder, so that after passing this cone through the orifice of the tile, also made of plastic, the thickness of this tile is wedged between the large base of the cone and the shoulder.
Each tile intended to receive this device is provided at its upper end with a strip crossed by at least two orifices, or at least two tabs each crossed by an orifice.
Thanks to this device, the tiles are hung positively on the battens, the latter being placed between the two branches of the U-shaped rod.
According to an alternative embodiment, the tiles are provided with L-shaped grooves, opening onto the outside of the strip which carries them.
In any event, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the following description, with reference to the appended schematic drawing showing, by way of non-limiting example, an embodiment of this device for attaching the tiles: Fig. 1 is a cross section of a tile fixed according to one embodiment of this device; Fig. 2 is a cross section of a tile during its assembly, according to another embodiment of this device; Fig. 3 is a cross section of a tile fitted with the latter device, and placed on a batten; Fig. 4 and 5 are top plan views of two variant embodiments of tiles, equipped with holes for fixing this fastening device; FIG. 6 is a top plan view of an alternative embodiment of this tile, a variant equipped with L-shaped grooves for fixing the hooking device.
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of this hooking system mounted on ceramic tiles 1. The device consists of a U-shaped rod with unequal branches comprising a small branch 2, connected to a large branch 3 by a branch 4. The large branch 3 has near its end a shoulder 5 followed by a thread 6.
During its assembly on the tile 1, the thread 6 passes through the orifice 7 provided on this tile, by an amount limited by the shoulder 5 which rests on the underside of the tile 1. The outer part of the thread 6 receives a nut 8 which retains the rod on the tile 1.
