Abstract

The present invention concerns a method for bleaching of pulp to a brightness of at least ISO 80 by utilising at least two of the following bleaching agents: oxygen, ozone, peroxide. The invention is characterized in that the pulp is cooked to a kappa number less than 20; the pulp is treated to remove heavy metals with at least one of the following treatment agents or methods: treatment with acid, EDTA, DTPA; the pulp is delignified in a pressurised oxygen stage which is divided into two stages; and the pulp is bleached with at least one of the following agents: O subscript 2, O subscript 3, ClO subscript 2, H subscript 2 O subscript 2.
