Abstract

The present invention deals with a method and an arrangement for treatment of pulp. The invention deals in particular with peroxide treatment of chemical pulp, that is, both sulphite pulp and so-called kraft pulp and a method and an arrangement for carrying out such treatment in a new and effective way. The method according to the invention concerns treatment of chemical pulp with at least hydrogen peroxide or the like, wherein the kappa number of the pulp has been brought to a level below 20 by at least cooking or cooking and delignification, so that the pulp is treated in a quick alkaline or neutral peroxide stage P subscript k in order to lower the kappa number by 1-10, preferably 3-7 kappa units, wherein the reaction time is under 10 minutes, preferably under 5 minutes. <IMAGE>
