The object of the invention is to provide a device for pruning wood which is suitable for use in all kinds of conditions and which prunes trees safely and quickly by means of a working machine or the like. It is a further object of the invention to provide a device which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and easy to use.

The object of the invention is achieved by a device which is essentially characterized by what is stated in the claims.

In the device according to the invention, the cover part is provided with a support member and support members are fixed to the body, through which the fastening member is guided, one end of the cover part is pivotally attached to one end of the body and the fastening member is arranged to press the opposite end of the cover part towards the other end. The device is simple in construction and has no protruding parts that would interfere with the use of the device.
