Abstract

A method of shutting down a roving machine when a stop signal occurs in which the position of the bobbin carriage is detected, the carriage is braked to a predetermined speed, the predetermined speed of the carriage being maintained so long as the carriage lies in a prohibited area (e.g. opposite a bobbin end), and the machine being shut down when the carriage lies outside the prohibited area.
